KOLHAPUR: Khaibar Naikvadi, 57, a record officer at revenue office in Kolhapur, was arrested while taking a bribe of ₹3,000 for issuing old land document to a farmer who wanted a certificat­e of him belonging to ‘kunbi Maratha’ community. The farmer wanted old 7/12 document for his land. Naikvadi had allegedly demanded ₹6,000 as the first instalment, after which the farmer filed a complaint with the anti-corruption bureau

(ACB).

Girl gives SSC exam after father’s death, scores 88%

KOLHAPUR: Shreya Patil, a resident of Bhadale village in Kolhapur district, who gave her test despite her father’s death on the third day of SSC exam, scored 88.60%. Her father died of a heart attack.

Kolhapur man kills father, 81, in fit of rage

KOLHAPUR : Ramesh Magar, 51, who was detained in a room at a house in Aundh, allegedly broke open the door and attacked his father Dinkar, 81, with a sharp weapon. Dinkar succumbed to his injuries. Sources said Ramesh suffered from mental ailment and his family had locked him in the room owing to his aggressive behaviour towards other villagers.

3 of family electrocut­ed while working at a farm

KOLHAPUR: Suresh Kalange 48, his wife Sangita 40, and their son Sarvesh, 16, died of electrocut­ion while working at their sugarcane field in Satara district on Saturday.
