Buldhana tribal school may face cheating charge

After allegation­s of sexual harassment, the Buldhana tribal boarding school likely to face cheating charges as the state tribal developmen­t commission­erate has found discrepanc­ies in the number of students registered . According to the commission­erate, the school’s management has shown 381 students on its muster of which 370 are residentia­l students. “To find out the actual number of students, the tribal developmen­t commission­erate formed 36 teams, who visited the students’ families. The teams found 260 students,” said Girish Sarode, additional tribal developmen­t commission­er.

The school’s management may have shown more students on paper to get more grants from thestate,saidoffici­als. “During this exercise, we have also found that the parents are still bringing students who migrated and have decided to wait until Monday or Tuesday to decide on the course of action,” he said.

“Once the discrepanc­y is establishe­d, an FIR will be filed against the school,” he told HT. The Buldhana police have registered 3 FIRS in the case, of which 2 are for rape and 1 for molestatio­n. The state has cancelled registrati­on of the school and has also started the process to shift students to schools in the vicinity.
