CBD BELAPUR: CIDCO has announced that it will provide overtime allowance to its third and fourth class employees as per the sixth pay commission recommendations at par with similar class employees of MIDC.

The board of directors of CIDCO approved a proposal to this effect recently, resolving a two-and-a-half year standoff between the management and employees’ union over the issue.

There is 50% shortage of personnel in several departments of CIDCO, and existing staff and officials have been burdened with additional task. They often work extra hours to finish the task.

Such officials and employees are provided allowances and other facilities as per the sixth pay commission. Third and fourth class employees including drivers, security guards, firemen, sanitation workers and gardeners are deprived of the allowance. They often work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The CIDCO employees’ union has been demanding that the administration pay overtime allowance to class three and four personnel for two and a half years, as per the commission’s recommendation.

The board of directors has finally relented and approved a proposal to provide overtime allowances to the employees at a meeting held recently.

Welcoming the move, JT Patil, general secretary of the union, said, “Employees falling under different categories will finally be provided overtime allowances for working extra hours. It was long overdue ”
