Gehlot slams BJP over ‘misuse’ of central agencies
Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday intensified his attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government, accusing it of misusing agencies like the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax, and the Central Bureau of Investigation. He also alleged that the ruling party has been intimidating people and collecting substantial funds through electoral bonds.
Addressing an election rally in Vallabhnagar in support of Congress candidate Udaylal Anjna from Chittorgarh Lok Sabha seat, the former chief minister pointed out that two chief ministers were put in jail, which naturally worries and scares people.
Gehlot further mentioned that at the last moment of elections, Congress’s bank accounts were closed, raising suspicions about the fairness of the electoral process. He added that several countries, including the UK, America, and Germany, are surprised by the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre, questioning what is happening in India.
Gehlot also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that he deceives people. He further alleged that Modi had promised to bring back black money, deposit fifteen lakhs rupees in people’s accounts, establish Lokpal, and create two crore jobs per year, but he did not fulfil a single one of these promises.
Gehlot mentioned the Kanhiyalal murder case, stating that his government had provided compensation of fifty lakhs to
the family. However, the PM spread lies, claiming that the family was only given five lakhs and insinuating that the Congress gives five lakhs to Hindus and fifty lakhs to Muslims. Gehlot criticized such deceitful politics happening in the country.
Claiming himself to be a staunch supporter of cows and Lord Ram, Gehlot stated that his government spent three thousand crores on cow welfare, whereas the former BJP government in the state only spent five hundred crore.
“People of BJP are distributing certificates of Ram bhakt but they should remind that we are also Hindu and since our childhood we have been greeting by saying Ram-Ram-Sa,” Gehlot said. He concluded by stating that the atmosphere is not favourable.
Responding to Gehlot, BJP leader Rakesh Sharma said, “It is only Congress leaders who fear the Modi government, and it is because of their wrong deeds and corrupt practices.”
Sharma further stated, “We need not to respond to the Congress’ baseless allegations, as the entire country has given a thumping majority to the Modi government twice, and now it is going to happen for the third time.”
