ETO’O FILMED IN ALTERCATIO­N OUTSIDE WORLD CUP GAME

Cameroon federation president and former star Samuel Eto’o was filmed apparently kicking a man to the ground in an altercatio­n outside a World Cup stadium on Tuesday. Eto’o had paused to pose for photos with fans near Stadium 974 after Brazil beat Korea 4-1. Footage circulatin­g on social media showed him then reactingac­ting to comments by a man holding a camera. The former BarcaB and Inter forward wa as held back by people in his entourage then got clear and appeared to o aim a kick at the man n, who fell backwards t o the South ground. Korea “After match, the Br razilhad I a violent altercatio­n w ith a person who was probably an n Algerian supporter,” Eto’o said d in a statement on Twitter. “I would li ike to apologise for losing my temper r and reacting in a way that does not m atch my personalit­y. I apologi se to the public for this unfortunat­e incident.”i

The engineer who developed the air conditioni­ng for Qatar’s World Cup stadiums says that a cooling system for an Olympic marathon is possible if the state bids for the Games. Amid reports that Qatar is targeting the 2036 Olympics, Saud Abdulaziz Abdul Ghani, widely known as Dr. Cool, said Qatar has already “proven” its technologi­cal capability for the World Cup and can repeat the feat for a new mega event. Doha was a contender for the 2016 and 2020 Olympics and sports officials have said it is studying a new campaign using the World Cup as a launchpad. The infrastruc­ture for the World Cup has been widely hailed, even after fierce summer temperatur­es forced FIFA to change the dates to winter.
