Three arrested for posing with guns, firearms on social media in Jaipur
JAIPUR: The crime investigation unit (CIU) of city police commissioner office arrested three persons on Tuesday for posting pictures with guns and other firearms on social media and lodged 10 cases under different sections of IPC.
City commissioner of police (CP) Anand Shrivastava said that the police was receiving many complaints that few antisocial elements are trying to create an atmosphere of fear by posting pictures with arms on various social media websites. Seeing the seriousness of the complaint, the CIU team started investigating the matter and t racked t he profiles of t he accused.
“The teams identified the accused living in limits of 11 police station areas which included Jawahar Nagar, Shivdaspura, Muhana, Sanagner Sadar, Mansarovar, Jhotwara, Karni Vihar, Shiprapath, Kalwar and Shastri Nagar,” said Shrivsatava.
The three arrested were identified as Dharamraj Choudhary, Rakesh Kumar and Man Singh Shekhawat.
In last week of October, the crime branch of police headquarters had issued directions to the inspector general of police of all ranges and district superintendents of police to take action against those who post pictures with arms and ammunition on social media platforms in Rajasthan.
The orders said that strict action should be taken against those posting pictures with on social media under the Arms Act, I T Act and RAJPASA (Rajasthan Prevention of AntiSocial Activities act).
This order WAS released in view of rising trend of criminals posting on social media platforms which creates fear among the common man.
In August, video of a Rajasthan criminal gang ‘007’ named after famous fictional British spy James Bond, who inspired a series of Hollywood blockbusters, had gone viral.
The gang members were seen flaunting guns, rifles and dancing to Punjabi numbers in the video.
