Madhya Pradesh home minister Bhupendra Singh on Tuesday regretted “an error” on microblogging site Twitter after revealing a rape victim’s name through his post earlier on Monday.

In a previous tweet on Monday evening, Singh said a complaint had been received regarding a rape and murder at village Sundrel Dewas.

Instructions were issued to police to take prompt action in connection with the case.

The accused, Lokesh, was arrested and sent to jail.

In the tweet, however, Singh revealed the name of the minor girl as well. She is a student of class 7.

After the screenshot of the minister’s post went viral on social media, he tweeted on Tuesday.

The minister said he was running a separate public service grievance cell (Janseva nirakaran cell) for the sake of redressing grievances of people. The

I regret the error),” he said.

Notably, Madhya Pradesh once again has topped the crime chart in rapes as per a 2016 report of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), which was recently made public.
