India women’s hockey team slams Singapore 100 at Asia Cup
The Indian women’s hockey team got off to a roaring start at the Asia Cup 2017 as they thrashed Singapore 10-0 in Kakamigahara, Japan on Saturday.
Goals by Navneet Kaur (3’ and 41’), Rani (15’ and 18’), Lalremsiami (18’), Deep Grace Ekka (25’), Navjot Kaur (30’ and 50’), Gurjit Kaur (41’) and Sonika (45’) ensured India notched up the winning points in their opening match in Pool A.

: Sourav Kothari of India wrapped up four games on the trot with complete command to defeat his fellow countryman Siddharth Parikh 7-5, entering the finals of the 2017 World Billiards Championship being played at the Northern Snooker Center. He will play Dave Causier of England in the final who beat Rupesh Shah of India 7-4.

SHIVA ENTERS SEMIS
Defending champion Shiva Thapa was assured of a second successive National Championship medal after he advanced to the semi-finals of the event. The World Championships bronze-medallist, who is representing Assam, defeated Andhra Pradesh’s V Durga Rao in his quarterfinal. Thapa will be up against Punjab’s Palwinder Singh in his lightweight (60kg) semifinal clash on Sunday.

BHULLAR TIED 8TH
Gaganjeet Bhullar made a big move on the shortened third day as he was five-under through 15 holes in the third round of the Indonesia Open. Bhullar was bogey-free for the day and at one stage he was 4-under for the front nine and then 5-under for 11 holes.
But when the threat of lighthing and thunderstorms stopped play, he was five-under with three holes left. At 9-under he is now tied 8th as compared to tied 18th overnight.
