High on numbers, Federer names his eighth Wimbledon after 1908 champ

It is as if he is not done mesmerisin­g the world with his wonderful acts, Roger Federer, who has won 19 Grand Slams in his career, including the Wimbledon as many as eight times, recently caught his eight million followers on Twitter by surprise.

Roger Federer posted a photograph of the Wimbledon 2017 trophy alongside a flower vase, writing that it was ‘nice’ to have ‘Arthur at the dinner table’.

The tweet certainly caused some sort of frenzy among his millions of followers on the social networking website, while many of them were left puzzled over what Roger Federer wanted to say, and where that name came from.

The champion gave his followers some time to think and come up with the right answer.

Federer finally broke the suspense informing that he was renaming his eighth Wimbledon trophy after Arthur Gore, who won it in 1908. But there was something more in store.

Interestin­gly, a unique treatment was given by Roger Federer to the second tweet, highlighti­ng the figures ‘19’ and ‘8’ from ‘1908’ in brackets.

Federer indicated his 19 Grand Slams that he has won, including the eight Wimbledon wins with such treatment.
