I do feel bogged down when negative things are written about me: Nandish
Nandish Sandhu agrees that being a celebrity comes at a cost. Right from the clothes a celeb wears to their relationships — everything is out there for public scrutiny. While the actor had a tough time getting used to it initially, he says he has learnt to deal with all of it now. “You learn to tackle the [excessive] attention with time. It’s like on-the-job training. One can’t learn all this (handling the excessive attention) in books or teach it by giving lectures or mentoring. The world teaches you everything,” he says.
The 40-year-old, who became a household name* with his TV show, Uttaran, adds that having a support system is critical to keeping one sane. “Some people do support you, like family members and close friends. I am not always in the highest of spirits or the best of moods. I do feel bogged down when negative things are written about me,” says the actor.
Mental health is an important topic according to him, as actors can easily lose focus. Sandhu continues, “I do feel the negativity creeping in sometimes. When I feel low, there are people around me. I can talk to my family and good friends. I have a good support system. What has also helped me [stay mentally healthy] is meditation. On days when you want to get into your groove, I listen to good music and engage in some productive activities. Your real-life experiences [also help], you just learn [to tackle all the stress] with time.”
