FIROZABAD: A 15-year-old girl was run over by a train as she tried to escape from three men who allegedly tried to abduct her in Firozabad on Sunday night.

A police case was re gistered only on Tuesday, after police initially investigated a suicide angle despite the father of the girl producing two eye-witnesses to back up his allegation against three named suspects.

According to police, the girl had left her home at Gatoji Kalan area to buy medicines when the three suspects tried to drag her into an autorickshaw near the Labour Colony gate. She freed herself and tried to run to her aunt’s house across the railway lines but failed to spot an approaching train.

T he suspects witnessed the incident and fled from the spot, the FIR said, on the basis of the statements of the eyewitnesses.

When Arshi did not return, her father went to search for her and found pieces of her body on the train track.

“The father, Abrar registered a complaint and an FIR was lodged at the Dakshin police station in Firozabad against three named accused, Lalla, Kamran and Monu,” said Sri Prakash Yadav, station in-charge.

The complaint was made by the father on Monday, based on the account of two eyewitnesses. The police, however, registered a case only on Tuesday after initial investigation. They initially believed it to be a case of suicide. The accused are yet to be arrested.
