‘I am obsessed with cleanliness’

- Prerna Gauba Your fashion icon...

When you scroll through actor Fatima Sana Shaikh’s social media account, you know that she is a fashionista, fun-loving diva and a travel enthusiast all at the same time. Known as the Dangal girl to many, she stole the spotlight and made a mark in Bollywood by portraying wrestler Geeta Phogat on screen in the Aamir Khan-starrer blockbuster.

When we spoke to her about the world of glamour and the paparazzi culture she said that she never has the time to think about it. “There are people who care a lot for fashion and then there are people who don’t. Those who care, care regardless of paparazzi and they would dress up even if they are going to a friend’s house for a party.

Personally, some days I feel like wearing a red carpet gown to the gym and some days I feel like wearing my brother’s pyjamas to a fashion event. So with this much chaos already in my head, I never have the time to worry what the paparazzi think,” confesses the actor, who supports the idea of sustainable fashion.

“I’m all for supporting such causes and initiatives but they can’t be niche and limited. The people driving the movement need to make it more widespread, first of all.

I guess we need to make it convenient for everyone to make it grow,” adds Fatima. Here’s what she has to say about fashion, beauty and fitness:

Your most favourite fashion piece

Everything vintage — dresses, accessories, jackets, etc. I love shopping at vintage shops.

On a casual day, what will you be seen wearing?

Shorts and an oversized tee

A fashion trend you are obsessed with?

Comfort. And the fact it can never go out of fashion.

Bored of seeing in fashion...

Effort

Actor Ranveer Singh. I wish I could also carry anything and everything.

Is following a diet a crucial part of your fitness? How do you follow?

If you think of dieting as starvation and restriction then it’s impossible to follow. Nutrition has to be researchbased and a personal trial and error should keep happening. Once you know what you’re doing, it becomes a lifestyle that you love to abide by.

I love home food, raw food, and am obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness. Eating homemade food is the best diet to follow.

When it comes to beauty treatments, do you go for home remedies? Are there a few things you can share with the readers?

I am all for home remedies. Multani mitti with rose water to absorb the oil from my face and chandan to calm my skin. I also love vaseline for my skin as it moisturises it well.
