20,000 TREES CUT FOR WIDENING OF ROADS

Forest minister Kanwar Pal said 20,309 trees were cut for the widening of the Karnal-Kaithal road and Karnal-Assand road. He announced that the forest department will now contact the farmer concerned to give informatio­n about the trees that will be cut within 3m area of their land, while constructi­ng the roads.

DPR BEING PREPARED FOR NEW MEDICAL COLLEGES

Health minister Anil Vij said a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared for new medical colleges in Jind, Bhiwani, Narnaul, and Gurugram districts. Replying to a question Vij said constructi­on work of Jind medical college will be completed in about three years at a cost of ₹664 crore. On the constructi­on of a medical college in Bhiwani district, Vij added work will start within three months as the DPR was almost ready.

STADIUMS TO BE UPGRADED

The minister of state for sports and youth affairs Sandeep Singh said to motivate the youth towards sports in Haryana, the state government will utilise the experience of outstandin­g sportspers­ons of the national and internatio­nal levels. Apart from this, more focus will be laid towards increasing the facilities in the stadiums. The department would also consider organising an internatio­nal level sports competitio­n in Haryana, he added

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE GIVEN TO GAUSHALAS

Deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala said to tackle the problem of stray cattle, the state government had initiated the process of setting up of gaushalas, cattle pounds and cow abhyarans. He said ₹7,100 is given by the panchayat and developmen­t department to those panchayats who have sent the proposal for setting up the Gau-Grah and cattle pounds. He said 11 gaushalas and cattle pounds have been set up in Mahenderga­rh district

27 GOVERNMENT COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTI­ON

Education minister Kanwar Pal informed the House that constructi­on on buildings of 27 government colleges was on and that work on six colleges will be started soon. An administra­tive approval of ₹12 crore has also been received for the constructi­on of this college, he added.
