BKU begins sit-ins in all Haryana dists
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana unit of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) on Friday announced to begin dharna (sit-ins) at all districts headquarters (deputy commissioner’s office) to protest the killing of agitating farmers in Madhya Pradesh.
The Haryana BKU president Gurnam Singh Charuni told HT that indefinite dharnas had been started in most of the districts of the state.
“In the remaining districts,the dharnas would be started by Saturday morning.
Charuni said the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh, the national body of all the farmers’ forums, had also called an emergency meeting in New Delhi on Saturday in which the future action would be chalked out.
HISAR FARMERS BURN EFFIGY OF MP GOVT
HISAR: Farmers, under the banner of All India Kisan Sangharsh Samiti (AIKSS), burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh (MP) government on Friday as a mark of protest against the ‘killing’ of five agitating farmers in Mandsaur.
“The BJP government had promised to implement the Swaminathan Commission report, but instead it is killing farmers now,” said Suresh Koth, president of the Hisar unit of AIKSS.
Meanwhile, the youth wing of India National Lok Dal (INLD) also burnt the effigy of MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
They demanded Chouhan’s resignation and demanded that the Centre should take action against the MP government for “ordering the killing of farmers”.
INLD youth leader Umed Singh said, “The government must waive off farmers’ debts as soon as possible.
