SIX MEN WERE ARRESTED FOR AT LEAST THREE BURGLARIES DISCLOSED TO POLICE ALI’S INVOLVEMENT IN ALL THE INCIDENTS

BHOPAL: A suspect in three burglary cases allegedly poisoned himself before going to Sarangpur police station in Rajgarh district on Wednesday. Hatim Ali, 40, later died while being taken to his home town Indore for treatment.

In a letter handed over to police and later in his statements before block medical officer and tehsildar at a hospital in Sarangpur Ali admitted involvement in the three cases owing to a burden of `7 lakh private loan, Sarangpur police station in-charge Sunil Sharma told HT.

According to Sharma, six men who were involved in at least three burglaries worth over `1 lakh in Sarangpur over the last two months were recently arrested. The arrested men had disclosed to police Ali’s involvement in all three burglaries.

“Based on the grilling of the six arrested men, we had recently raided the house in Sarangpur where Ali lived with wife after being ousted by his father in Indore. He was not found there as he had gone to Rajasthan for a wedding function,” said Sharma.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ali walked into the Sarangpur police station and told the on duty staff that he had consumed celphos. He handed over a letter to the concerned police station staff admitting involvement in the burglary cases owing to the debt burden.

“We rushed Ali first to a hospital in Sarangpur from where doctors referred him to Shajapur district.

At Shajapur hospital, doctors referred him to Indore, but he died midway in Dewas district,” said Sharma.
