3 upsets mark Day Two at AITA Series
LUCKNOW: Unseeded Geetika Saraswat on Tuesday caused the biggest upset on Day Two of the Under-14 AITA Championship Series-7, outplaying sixth seeded Lavanya Singh in straight sets to make it to the girl’s singles quarterfinals, at the SDS Tennis Academy here.
Despite facing some tough resistance from Lavanya in the opening set, Geetika went on winning the tie by 7-5, 6-3. The other upset in the category was of seventh seeded Yashasvi Srivastava, who lost to Aditri Singh 6-7 (4) and 4-6.
The boy’s singles too witnessed an upset as unseeded Ayan Yadav defeated seventh seeded Tanish A Patil 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a three-set thriller. RESULTS
