Swara Bhasker has no qualms in being a part of multi-starrer films and maintains she picks up roles based on how compelling scripts are. However, she adds that some anxiety often accompanies it. “A certain amount of anxiety, insecurity and competitiveness comes naturally, because everyone thinks about doing their part in the best way possible. Actors also try to get maximum footage in a scene,” says the actor, who has featured in several ensemble films like Veere Di Wedding (2018) and Jahaan Chaar Yaar, which released earlier this year.

“Having said that, for a good scene, there has to be good chemistry between all the actors,” says the 34-year-old. She goes on to explain how things turned out well for all the cast members of Jahaan Chaar Yaar, which includes Pooja Chopra, Shikha Talsania and Meher Vij.

“The brief that was given to us called for understanding the concept of give and take in scenes and build chemistry. We understood that friendship has to work like magic. Also, none of us brought any feelings of entitlement onto the set,” she further adds.

Bhasker recalls how the four actors of the film went for a date after the second reading, had shots and played party games. “It was the start of a new friendship and beautiful chemistry on screen,” she shares.

The actor states that a script decides how balanced every character of the film looks on screen. “The onus for this should be on the writers and directors. For a balanced multi-starrer film, it should be taken care of at the script, characterisation, screen design and screenplay level,” she concludes.
