Enthusiasm marks Lucknow Run ’22
LUCKNOW : Around two thousand people took part in “Lucknow Run 2022” held at GD Goenka Public School here on Sunday. The half marathon. was organised by “The Centrum”, an urban lifestyle club in Lucknow, in association with Uttar Pradesh tourism and culture department. The event was organised in four categories of 21, 10, 5 km and 3 km in the lush green surroundings of Sushant Golf City.
The 21 km half marathon started at 5:30 am, 10 km run at 6am, while 5 km and 3 km run got under way at 7am. The participants included students of different schools, Indian Army personnel, people from the corporate sector and members of many running groups and organisations.
Eminent personalities of the city like Lt Gen Vivek Kashyap, AVSM, VSM, Central Command and several bureaucrats, including Anil Kumar, Alok Kumar, Piyush Mordia, Balu Kenchappa, Jawaid Alam Khan, joint director and chairman Sahodaya Schools’ Complex Lucknow, were also present on the occasion and flagged off the different runs.
Principals and educationists of renowned schools of Lucknow were also present on the occasion. “The purpose of the half marathon was not only to motivate people to be healthy but also to make them aware of the good health of their surroundings and environment,” said Sarvesh Goel, managing partner of “The Centrum” and chairman of GD Goenka Public School.
All the winners and participants were awarded medals and certificates. The route plan of the half marathon was IAAF AIMS certified and was made keeping in mind the safety and convenience of the participants, the organisers said. It was a different experience to run among the greenery spread all around in the mild cold of the November morning, said participants.
Lucknow Jaitnder Singh (1:20:53) in the male category and Balbinder Kaur (1:59:21) in the female category were declared winners in the 21-km run category. Saiyuv Khan (33:41) and Isha Sharma (46:40) were the winners of the 10 km run category in male and female category respectively.
