Industrial parks to come up along all e-ways
Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal expressways will be first to have such facility
LUCKNOW : The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up industrial parks along the Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal expressways.
The state government’s policy envisages setting up of industrial parks along all expressways and a start is being made with AgraLucknow and Purvanchal expressways.
The government also has decided to prepare land banks along expressways. To start with, land banks will first be prepared along Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal expressways.
The Agra-Lucknow Expressway is already operational and by the end of March 2021 Purvanchal Expressway will be open for light vehicles.
“Setting up industrial units along these two expressways will help in transporting goods within 10 to 12 hours across the state,” the state government said in a statement on Friday.
Being a land-locked state, transportation has been a major challenge for entrepreneurs investing in Uttar Pradesh.
This is a major reason that the government is now preparing to develop industrial parks on the sides of expressways.
Investors have been demanding setting up of industrial units along the expressways as they will provide proper connectivity to industries.
At present five expressways are in the pipeline. Apart from Purvanchal Expressway, construction work has started on Bundelkhand Expressway and Gorakhpur Link Expressway. In addition to this, the Ganga Expressway and Ballia Link Expressway have also been proposed.
“As part of its policy to promote industries, the state government has decided to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to industrial development authorities,” said Satish Mahana, UP industrial development minister.
The infrastructure and industrial development department had issued an order last week to chief executive officers of industrial development authorities to implement the ‘Dig and Restore’ policy of the urban development department in industrial areas.
This is in compliance with the Petroleum Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s directive for development of city gas distribution (CGD) network based on geographical area.
According to the UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), around 4,875 sqm land has been earmarked in Bilhaur on Agra-Lucknow Expressway for Green Energy Corridor.
