LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to arrange 50,000 additional beds in the L-2 (Level-2) and L-3 (Level-3) Covid-19 hospitals in Uttar Pradesh. The directive comes amid increasing cases of coronavirus in the state.

He asked the director general, health, and the director general, medical education, to take necessary action to get the additional beds ready in a time-bound manner. “An additional 50,000 beds should be arranged in Level-2 and Level-3 hospitals where serious coronavirus patients are admitted. For these beds, health workers and other necessary arrangements should also be made,” Adityanath said.

Yogi was reviewing the unlock-3 situation at a high level meeting here.

The integrated command and control centres should be made effective at the district level in all the districts, he said, adding that all district magistrates would be held accountable if such centres were not set up in their respective districts. He said the personnel at these centres should call the patients in home isolation twice every day to know about the condition of their health.

Further improvement should be brought about in ambulance services being run in the state, the chief minister directed the officials. He said 50% of the total available ambulances, including those of the 108 ambulance service, should be used for Covid-19 patients while the remaining 50% should be utilised for non-Covid patients. Beds should be allotted to patients on the basis of their health condition.

Stressing on precautions to break the Covid-19 infection chain, he said cooperation of all the people should be taken in this regard. No one should be allowed to spread the infection, he said. The chief minister asked for an improvement in health services in Kanpur Nagar and an increase in the number of beds there.

The special cleanliness and sanitization campaign should be effectively implemented every Saturday and Sunday, he added.
