LUCKNOW: Set to reopen today (Monday) under ‘Unlock-1’ plan of the government to restart the economy, the city malls and restaurants have been equipped with shoe-sanitising mats at entrances, camera integrated software to control customers’ count, contactless vehicle parking systems and hand sanitisers for customers etc to keep Covid-19 at bay. ‘No mask no entry’ is the top norm.

Owners of restaurants, malls’ administrations and shopkeepers shared their preparation with police officials during a meeting at UP-112 auditorium on Sunday to ensure strict enforcement of the guidelines, including social distancing.

Lucknow commissioner of police (CP) Sujeet Pandey said is a major challenge for police and district administration to ensure strict compliance of social distancing protocol following which meeting with restaurants’ owners, malls’ administrations and shopkeepers as well as religious leaders was called.

“They have been asked to make the best possible arrangements to maintain cleanliness and sanitise the public area to check spread of coronavirus infection,” he emphasised.

He said face covers or masks, social distancing, preferably of six feet, thermal scanning and sanitisation before entering any campus are mandatory.

He said not more than five people will be allowed inside religious places at one time and they will have to be thermal scanned, which is mandatory for entry to shopping malls and eateries, too.

Pandey said only 50% seating occupancy at restaurants and food courts will be allowed. “A mobile squad of the malls’ managements will have to ensure the visitors follow Unlock-1 guidelines inside the malls,” he said.

“At temples and other places of worship, devotees would be required to carry their own mats, if they were to sit inside, and although community kitchens and ‘langars’ (community kitchens run in gurudwaras) will be allowed, people will have to observe social distancing,” the CP added.

Sanjeev Sarin, center director of Phoneix United, Lucknow said the mall management and staff are trying to provide people safest destination for shopping.

He said multiple measures have been taken for customers’ safety, including shoe-sanitising mat and social distancing markings at the entrance, visual displays at all prominent places of dos and don’ts for the customers, checking at the entrance for Aarogya Setu app before entrance, camera integrated software to control the count of customers inside the mall premises etc.

Sarin said temperature check at the entrance and sanitisation after every two hours of all touch-points like escalator belts, railings and lift buttons etc will be done.

He said installation of contactless hand sanitisers, contactless order and payment at food court outlets and parking payment will be ensured.
