‘Varsities are forcing us to pay fees’
LUCKNOW : Students in the city alleged that their institutions are harassing them by issuing order for payment of fees, failing which they will not be allowed to appear in annual exams. The students took to social media to draw attention of government and media.
INTEGRAL UNIVERSITY
Students of Integral University claimed they have been asked to make payment of fees between July 29-August 8 or else fine will be charged for late payment. The university plans to start online examination for all students except for the final semester from June 15 and final semester dissertation along with pen and paper exam from July 15.
“This is despite the fact that UGC has asked universities and colleges to consider the matter about annual payment of fees with sympathy,” a section of students claimed.
Mohd Haris Siddiqui, director admission and academics of the university said no students were singled out or harassed individually for non-payment of fees. A handful of people are running a campaign on social media against the college management which is unfair.
AMITY UNIVERSITY
Students of Amity University, Lucknow campus alleged that despite Covid-19 situation, the university administration is mounting pressure on them to deposit fees.
Deputy director, public relations and communications of Amity University, Chandra Shekhar Verma said, “The last date of depositing fees is June 10. It was informed to students on February 20. In some special cases, we can consider some relaxations, provided we get documentary support of the problem stated.”
BBD UNIVERSITY
Many students of Babu Banarsi Das University claimed that the university decided not to allow students to appear in exams if they do not deposit fees on time.
Director, finance of BBD University, RK Agarwal said, “We have asked students to pay a minimum 50% fee to be allowed to appear in exams. The remaining part could be paid later. In a few extraordinary cases, we have allowed a few students to appear in the exam.”
