LUCKNOW : The state government has appointed additional chief secretary Awanish Awasthi as a member of the board of trustees of the newly constituted Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra trust that will oversee construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and regulate its other activities.

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said the 1090 Women Powerline that he launched as chief minister was in bad shape and girls were finding it difficult to go to schools due to activities of antisocial elements.

Yadav said this after meeting a group of girls on way back to Lalganj in Rae Bareli from Fatehpur, where he had gone to attend wedding of Fatehpur Nagar Palika chairperson Nazaquat Khatoon on February 17, 2020. Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary in a press statement on Wednesday said the parents of girls were upset due to rising crime against women during the tenure of BJP government. He said Yadav had stopped way to interact with group of girls going to school. Chaudhary said Yadav also came across condition of farmers working in fields on way.

He said Yadav felt the Congress was responsible for prevailing condition of farmers as the party did not make them self-reliant. He said sugarcane growers were agitated due to delay in clearing of their dues. He said the BJP government promised to farmers to give them remunerative prices. The BJP had, however, forgot all the promises made to the people, said Yadav, according to Chaudhary.
