Alok takes record eight wickets in CAL’s league

LUCKNOW : Young Alok Gond on Wednesday took record eight wickets to help Bharat Cricket Club score a fascinatin­g eightwicke­t win against Armaan Cricket Academy in a league match of CAL’s D division, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here.

Alok took eight for 15 in eight overs with two maidens as ACA collapsed for paltry 85 in 18.5 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, Aryan Verma struck an unbeaten 55-ball 45, which contained six hits to the fence to guide BCC reach home in just 15.3 overs, losing just two wickets.

In other D division encounter of the day, Brightway Club defeated Grace Academy by 34 runs, at the Microlit Gymkhana Ground.

After scoring 153 in 39 overs, Brightway Club got the rivals out for 119 in 32 overs. Shailendra Rawat took 5/21, whereas Aditya Singh 3/28 and Rahul Tewari 2/27 were the other wicket takers.

In a B division match, Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy defeated Yorker Cricket Club by seven wicket. Sumit Kumar Sharma (65*) and Manish Dhakar (50) smashed half centuries.

SELECTED

Lucknow’s Ansh Chaudhary has been picked up among the 18-players for the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals under its grass root programme during a trial in Jaipur recently. He would be attending camp in November in Nagpur.

HANDBALL MATCH

It was an unique handball match of under-20 boys for unity on Wednesday at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here. The combined team of UP, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya defeated the other combined team of J&K and Tamil Nadu 31-23. The winners were leading by 11-9 at the break. Bharat Bharti scored highest nine goals for the winners, whereas Ashish Kajuriya netted six for the losers.

ATHLETICS MEET

The three-day 20th Inter-Battalion PAC Central Zone Athletics Meet begins on Thursday, at the 35th Battalion, PAC Stadium here.

TRIALS

The two-day trials to pick subjunior boys/girls wrestling teams at the district and regional levels will take place on October 26 and 27, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here at 11.00 a.m. Selected teams would participat­e in the State Wrestling Tournament, scheduled to be held from October 29 to 31 in Varanasi.
