-

LUCKNOW : Hundreds of people, including family members and senior lawyers, gathered to pay their last tributes to ex-chief standing counsel (CSC) of UP Ramesh Chandra Pandey who was cremated at Baikunth Dham crematorium here on Wednesday afternoon. Pandey had died after falling from the third floor of a building on the premises of Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Faizabad Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Kin broke down when Pandey’s elder son Yash lit the pyre. It was emotional scene with people talking about Pandey’s calibre, hard work, honesty and self esteem. People were discussing the reason behind Pandey’s death. Most of the senior lawyers refrained from commenting on Pandey’s death, but resentment was visible among the group present at the crematorium ground.

Earlier, the city police suspected that Pandey had committed suicide. A group of lawyers also demanded probe in the incident but Pandey’s family members did not register any complaint or raise any apprehensions over his death.

Pandey was considered as one of the most capable and popular personalities among senior lawyers of the Lucknow bench. He resigned from the CSC post on July 19, 2018 due to unknown reasons after remaining on this post for over a year. He was appointed as the CSC after formation of the BJP government in the state last year.
