Cops below 40 years to guard UP chief minister
LUCKNOW: Now physically fit police personnel below 40 years of age will guard chief minister Yogi Adityanath and overage cops will be removed from his security. The state security wing is likely to start selection of fit cops from different districts and other police units soon.
Additional director general (ADG), security, Vijay Kumar had written a letter to director general of police (DGP) OP Singh, apprehending serious life threat to the CM and sought permission to start the selection process for police personnel below 40 years of age. The letter dated June 23, 2018 reads that the requirement to improve the security is a must due to excessive busy travel plan of the CM. The ADG mentioned that it was urgently required to select police personnel below 40 years as presently not enough cops in this age group were present at the security headquarters.
He said inspectors, sub inspectors and head constables were to be selected for the purpose and requested approval from the DGP to start conducting interview of personnel interested in deployment in the CM’s security.
When contacted, the DGP refused to comment on the issue but other senior police officials confirmed that the process for selection of young lot of police personnel would start soon, after getting consent from the DGP headquarters.
