Friends my greatest supporters, says cricketer RP Singh
LUCKNOW: Left arm fast-medium pacer RP Singh on Saturday recalled his journey from a small town Rae Bareli to representing India in international cricket.
RP, who represented India in Test, One Day International and Twenty20 matches, spoke at TEDXSRMU, a special talk organised by Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University.
A non-profit organisation, TEDX provides a platform where many successful entrepreneurs, social workers, artists, engineers, doctors etc share their experiences.
An alumnus of the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Lucknow, RP said his friends were his greatest motivation and support.
Ashish Shukla, managing director of Chhanv Foundation, who has helped in campaigns related with Stop Acid Attacks also spoke on the occasion.
He talked about how it is the responsibility of each citizen to contribute towards women safety.
“The real fight is not with the society but with ourselves,” he said.
Rohtak resident Ritu Saini, who is an acid attack survivor and works at The Sheroes Hangout Café, also shared her story.
“If some men attacked her, there are many who motivated her to become independent. My face was attacked but my dream still remains the same and I am working to achieve it,” she said.
Shailendra Rajan, who has contributed to mango research, talked about how farmers have evolved 99:9% of mango varieties and are now commercializing the select ones.

about the negativity across the society but insisted there can still be ways to experience happiness. He talked about his experience at Ayodhya that had left him shocked but at the same time gave him hope. “The Hindus and Muslims of Ayodhya continue to live in harmony. All the chaos was created by external misguided elements,” he said.
Arushi Agarwal, a young Bibliophile, expressed her views on how books affect lives and how their interpretation can change lives.
Sudhir K Mishra, scientist and director General (BrahMos), DRDO, Ministry of Defence talked about how the country was experiencing a digital revolution that has taken over India, a country with rich heritage, civilization and culture. “All we need to do is focus on the economic, social and cultural development equally,” he said.
Pankaj Agarwal, chancellor of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, said providing employment to the people is the best thing one can ever do.
He talked about his journey of starting a university with 20 students and growing it into a full-fledged one with thousands of students.
The main objective of the event was to combine cultures and traditions, bringing together people from all phases of life and developing a common stage for discussions. AK Singh, vice chancellor, SRMU, inaugurated the event.
