Officials with the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a railways subsidiary, said the establishment of base kitchens is in the final phase. The initiative is aimed at improving food supply and quality.

Once the kitchens were in place, the food will be served hot on trains like Shatabdi Express Rajdhani Express and others.
