Yogi meets seers, tells officials to make Kumbh a success

LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Mo nday directed the department­s concerned to gear up and complete preparatio­ns for sm ooth conduct of the 2019 ‘Kumbh Mela’ in Allahabad.

Adityanath, who has already held several meetings with the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) in connection with the Kumbh, told officials that all preparatio­ns should be completed well in time to ensure the event was a success. “The chief minister and ABAP chief Mahant Narendra Giri held wide ranging and detailed deliberati­ons on the successful organising of the mega religious event,” said a government spokesman. The UP CM assured the head of the Akhara Parishad and members of the delegation that the state government was committed to ensuring all facilities and foolproof security for domestic and foreign visitors to the Kumbh in 2019 so that there is no inconvenie­nce to them. “All the arrangemen­ts will be in place in time,” Yogi told them.

The Magh and Kumbh Mela are important from the religious and tourism point of view. The UP CM interacted with seers of the Akhada Parishad and the Allahabad administra­tion and reviewed preparatio­ns for the Magh Mela and Kumbh Mela. The Kumbh Mela has attracted the attention of the United Nations. UNESCO has included the Kumbh Mela in its list of global intangible cultural heritage recently.
