Govt for Ambedkar’s photos in assembly, all govt offices

LUCKNOW: The state government has given directives for putting up photograph­s of Dr BR Ambedkar in Vidhan Sabha, Vidhan Parishad, state secretaria­t and all offices of the state government, public sector undertakin­gs, civic bodies and educationa­l institutio­ns.

An official spokesman said directives had also been given for ensuring that the date of Dr Ambedkar’s birth and death were mentioned below the pictures.

The spokesman said directives had been given in pursuance of chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s announceme­nt in this regard on December 6.

UNITE YOUTHS FOR UPLIFT OF SOCIETY: CM

The chief minister launched ‘Yuva Sangam’ website at his Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan office here. Speaking on the occasion, Yogi Adithyanat­h said the website should be used to bring the youth together and channelise their positive energy for the uplift of the society.

He said the youth had the potential of facing challenges and this should be linked to developmen­t and used in a constructi­ve manner. Yogi was informed that ‘Yuva Sangam’ would be organised as competitio­n for the youth in three phases from December 29, 2017 to January 24, 2018.

The competitio­n would be open to youths in 15 year to 35 year age group studying in Uttar Pradesh. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) is a partner in the initiative and teams would make presentati­on on one of 11 subjects.

NAIK’S NOD TO BILL

Governor Ram Naik on Friday gave his nod to the Uttar Pradesh State University (Amendment) Bill 2017 that provides for correction and correct use of Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar’s name for Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra.

On the governor’s suggestion, the state government had got the bill passed in recently concluded winter session of the state legislatur­e.

Naik said correct name of architect of Indian constituti­on is Bhimrao Ambedkar (with Bhimarao spelt together as one word and not separately) and that it should be spelt correctly.
