Sushil Kumar beats Khullar, wins Commonweal­th Wrestling gold

NEWDELHI: Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar clinched gold at the Commonweal­th Wrestling Championsh­ips in Johannesbu­rg on Sunday. Sushil defeated New Zealand Akash Khullar’s via a pinfall in the final of the 74kg freestyle category.

NANDRAJOG, JAGTAP ENTER FOURTH ROUND

MUMBAI: Second seed Gaurav Nandrajog and third seed Aditya Jagtap entered the fourth round in the 74th CCI-Western India Open Squash Tournament on Sunday. Nandrajog halted Mumbai’s Kunj Rawani 11-2, 11-9, 11-6, while Jagtap, subdued Mehul Kumar of Services 11-7, 11-5, 11-9.

PGTI TO BECOME AN ‘OPEN TOUR’ FROM 2018

NEW DELHI: There will be no restrictio­n on the number of foreigners with the Profession­al Golf Tour of India (PGTI) becoming an ‘Open Tour’ from 2018 . The PGTI had a limit of a maximum of 15 foreign players in each tournament till date but now there will be no such restrictio­n on foreigners earning their cards through the PGTI Qualifying School.

ABHIJOY NAMED DELHI FOOTBALL COACH

NEW DELHI Former state captain Abhijoy Basu has been named chief coach of the Delhi football team for the Santosh Trophy. Vikrant Sharma was named assistant-coach and Ishwar Singh Brar as the goalkeepin­g coach. The decision was taken at a Delhi Soccer Associatio­n managing committee meeting headed by president Shaji Prabhakara­n.

ROHANA CRUISES TO FOUR-SHOT WIN

JAMSHEDPUR: Sri Lankan Anura Rohana returned with a clinical two-under-69 in the final round to cruise to a four-shot victory at the 16th TATA Open on Sunday.
