AT 6.6 DEGREES, LKO IS COLDER THAN SHIMLA

Lucknow was colder than the ‘Queen of Hills’ - Shimla on Sunday. The city recorded the lowest temperatur­e of the season so far at 6.6 degrees Celsius, which was two notches below normal. Shimla’s minimum temperatur­e was 6.7 degrees. The state capital had recorded a minimum temperatur­e of 10 degrees on Saturday and 14.6 degrees on Dec 13. The Met department predicted that night temperatur­e may drop further in the next 24 hours. Heavy snowfall in the hills and northweste­rly winds blowing over UP had brought down the night temperatur­e, officials said.

LUCKNOW: Looking at the importance and need for research in Vedic literature, Lucknow University will seek funding for the institutio­nal project from government and other agencies, and may also use some of its resources for it.

The university plans to introduce this course as Vedic literature offers easy solutions to many problems, said an official.

A meeting of the deans of faculties was held on Friday wherein the proposal for introducin­g research in this field was discussed.

The deans agreed to start research in Vedic literature, especially with reference to its science, art and cultural aspects.

The deans said they would discuss the proposal at their respective faculty levels and identify teachers who were doing work in this area or those who had some philosophi­cal inclinatio­n towards Vedic literature.

Some students will be offered to work towards Ph.D. degree in this area.

After discussion and consultati­ons of deans at faculty level, the next meeting will be held on December 29, 2017.

Faculty who are interested in working in this field may prepare projects that would be compiled at university level.
