NEW DELHI: A parallel body at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), the home of BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary, was floated following a special general meeting (SGM) held on Wednesday. A new interim body was constituted and a decision to implement the Lodha panel recommendations in full was taken at the meeting.

While Amitabh Choudhary and Rajesh Verma had vacated their posts of president and secretary respectively on January 2, an RTI reply from State Bank of India revealed that Choudhary continued to sign on cheques on behalf of the state body.

“We have formed a fresh, interim body. The previous dispensation had quit and had nominated replacements from their own faction. However, they (Choudhary and Rajesh Verma) continued to operate the SBI account of the Jharkhand cricket association till July 18 (when the RTI reply arrived) going against the Lodha recommendations,” said Sunil Kumar Singh, the secretary of the new body.

“Although they (Choudhary & Co) say they are following Lodha recommendations, by nominating officials without a meeting and in proper way, they are flouting the rules. They were operating without quorum. Even the official sent to BCCI meetings (Rajesh Verma) in recent times is a disqualified official as per Lodha reforms,” said Singh.

Kuldeep Singh, Debashish Chakravarty and Ajaynath Sahadeo were nominated as president, secretary and vicepresident after all the officials were disqualified while Parthasarathi Sen continued as the treasurer from the previous dispensation.

When contacted, Choudhary didn’t respond. The interim body has written to Vinod Rai, the head of the Committee of Administrators.
