Youth strangled in suspected honour killing

In a suspected case of honour killing, police recovered the body of a missing youth from Ganga Canal in the late evening hours on Saturday.

The victim identified as Arun had gone missing since April 10. It is alleged that Arun was first strangled by brother of the girl with whom he was having an affair and then he was pushed into the canal.

Besides, a special police team has been deployed to search for the girl who went missing around a couple of days back.

It is alleged her elder brother took her away to some remote place.

According to police sources, 18-year-old Arun of Mansoorpur area of the district was having an affair with 17-year-old girl Anchal who also resided in the same locality.

When the girl’s elder brother Krishanpal came to know about their affair, he decided to kill Arun. On April 10, with the help his friend Rajkumar, Krishnapal called Arun and took him into a jungle of village Kelavada. After consuming liquor, Krishanpal and Rajkumar strangled Arun and threw him into the Ganga canal.

When Arun did not come home, his family members informed the Mansoorpur police and after initiating search for him, police registered a missing complaint into the matter.

Meanwhile, when Arun’s father came to know that Arun had met Rajkumar and Krishanpal before he went missing, he informed the matter to Mansoorpur police.

When SO Subhash Rana interrogat­ed the accused Krishanpal and Rajkumar, they disclosed about how they killed Arun.

During the investigat­ion, police came to know that Kuldeep, elder brother of Anchal, had taken her to an unknown place. SO said the family members of Arun had been informed about the matter and the body would be handed over to them after the postmortem examinatio­n.

CO Khatuali, Rajeev Kumar Gautam, said a special police team has been deputed to trace the girl.
