Leaders take to twitter to congratulate BJP
On the counting day, people took to Twitter and Facebook to appreciate Bharatiya Janata Party’s landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh. Prominent personalities joined the social media bandwagon to share their viewpoint.
While some tried to dissect the faults of Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), others posted memes and videos on the BJP’s victory.
People also tried to analyse the impact of triple talaq and demonetisation on social networking sites.
Sceptical about the possibilities of the Opposition in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Omar Abdullah tweeted: “In a nutshell there is no leader today with a pan-India acceptability who can take on Modi & the BJP in 2019.”
At this rate we might as well forget 2019 and start planning/ hoping for 2024, he added.
Calling the Uttar Pradesh mandate a Bharatiya Janata Party tsunami, he said, “How the hell did almost all the experts/analysts miss this wave in UP? It’s a tsunami, not a ripple in a small pond.”
Canadian journalist Natasha Fatah tweeted: “A decisive win from Prime Minister Modi. Opposition’s campaign around demonetisation didn’t succeed. Congrats India. #ElectionResults.” Chief minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar also appreciated the efforts of PM Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. He said, “The mandate in assembly elections is a result of the party’s leadership, workers and popular schemes of the government.”
Drawing a parallel between corporate growth and political victory, co-founder of Flipkart, Sachin Bansal appreciated Modi’s understanding of India. He tweeted, “#ElectionResults show how deeply @narendramodi understands India. Lesson for entrepreneurs: be fanatic about understanding your audiences.”
