ALLAHABAD Polling over and district cops are now back to track the killers of Dr AK Bansal, who was shot dead in his chamber at the Jeevan Jyoti Hospital on January 12. The investigations till now have failed to unearth any vital clue.

Meanwhile, a mysterious letter sent to Dr Bansal’s wife, Dr Vandana Bansal has caused confusion among the investigating teams. Some anonymous person had recently sent a letter at Dr Vandana Bansal’s residence claiming that two criminals in Naini area were involved in the shoot-out. However, the letter did not mention the reason or the name of the person who hired the shooters, informed police sources on condition of anonymity.

Cops are now tracing the whereabouts of the two persons named in the letter for questioning. One of the named criminals is a history sheeter and is close to a local leader.

Cops also believe that the letter may be an attempt to divert the investigations, but details of two criminals are being scanned to ascertain their involvement in the murder.

SP City Vipin Tada said several suspects have been questioned and many of the disputes involving Dr AK Bansal are being probed by the investigators. “Many of the shooters are also being scrutinised for their possible involvement in the crime,” he added.

The STF teams also grilled several shooters and notorious criminals lodged in Naini Jail. Besides, many shooters of Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh, who have a connection with criminals in Allahabad are also on the police radar. Till now police investigation is focused on the enmities of Dr Bansal in real estate and management of a university in Lucknow.
