Globe Park, Jyotiba Phule Park to have multilevel parking lots
LUCKNOW: Lack of parking space has always been a problem in the state capital.
While tiffs over parking are reported almost every day, around nine cases of violence related to parking issues were registered last year.
In view of this, parking lots were proposed at 14 places in the city by Lucknow Development Authority(LDA), LMC after consultation with the district administration.
Two out of these may come up soon as blueprints for the new underground multilevel parking lots at Globe Park and Jyotiba Phule Park in Old City are almost ready.
Besides, a proposal for parking spaces in Kanchan Market in Chowk, Kapoorthala market near Aliganj, Vikas Nagar, Faizabad road and Ashiana is also in the pipeline.
Lucknow has around 15 lakh vehicles, but there’s total absence of planning when it comes to creating proper parking space, said an official of district administration.
However, the parking facility at Globe Park (that would accommodate 700 cars and 200 two-wheelers at a time) is supposed to ease out the pressure of parking in front of IITR, divisional commissioner’s office and high court premises.
The parking lot at Jyotiba Phule Park is planned to accommodate around 650 cars and 150 two-wheelers simultaneously. This facility would offload Chowk road, which is full of parked vehicles.
