A day after a 92-year-old woman was killed in her house on Nawal Kishore Road, a double murder rocked the Ashiana area of the city on Tuesday night. An elderly woman, Bittana, 75 and her son Pappu Yadav, 45, were brutally murdered in their house in Sector L of the area.

The duo’s head and face were crushed by the assailants. Ruling out the loot angle, cops said the crime was apparently the fallout of some personal enmity and at least two people executed the crime.

The incident came to light at around 8pm when a local saw Pappu Yadav lying on the floor, as the main door was wide open. He then alerted the families of the two tenants - Awadesh Tiwari, a guard and Ravi Shankar Trivedi, a labourer, living in the same house. The woman was also found lying on the floor when they entered the house.

Tiwari said the woman stayed with her two sons - Pappu, who worked as a labourer and Ramesh, a driver at Shakti Bhawan. Ramesh was out for his duty when the incident took place. Pappu was unmarried while Ramesh had strained relations with his wife who stays separately at her parents’ house.

Ramesh and his three sisters reached the spot after being informed about the incident. They then informed the local police about it.

Rajesh Pandey, SSP, said the deceased belonged to a lower middle class background and the crime was apparently fallout of some enmity. He said circumstantial evidence suggested that the assailants may have been familiar to the two deceased, as the house is located in a crowded locality. He said the approach to the house was only through a 6-ft narrow lane.

The SSP said the dog squad and finger expert teams had been called at the crime scene to collect all possible evidences from there while the role of some of relatives of the two deceased was suspicious. The police were also scanning call details of the deceased.

On the same patter n on Monday, a 92-year-old woman Ramrati Devi was found murdered in her room in a three-storey building on Nawal Kishore road. The police so far failed to get any headway in the case.
