Samajwadi Party government not serious about crop loss: Shah
BJP national president Amit Shah on Friday took pot shots at Congress vicepresident Rahul Gandhi, UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying that they were anti-farmer.
“The BJP has come to power at the Centre due to 73 MPs elected from UP. If the party comes to power after the 2017 Assembly elections, UP will be the most developed and progressive state in the country,” he said while addressing a rally of Pal, Baghel and Dhankar communities in Sikkandrarao.
“Mulayan Singh claims to be ‘dhartiputra’ (son of the soil) and his son Akhilesh has seized power in UP by practising politics of backward classes. But during their rule the backward classes have remained backward, whereas Narendra Modi has focused on the poorer sections and fulfilled promises made during poll campaigns within one year of rule,” said Shah.
Referring to Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shah said: “All these persons are antifarmer and indulging in politics over farmer suicides.”
He said, “The Akhilesh government is not even serious about the assessment of crop losses. The patwaris are not conducting survey by visiting the fields, but are submitting fabricated assessment reports to the government under political pressure.”
Attacking the Gandhi family, Amit Shah said Rahul Gandhi was enacting a drama on the pretext of visiting farmers through ‘padyatra’.
“During their rule, no mem- ber of the Gandhi family ever toured their own constituencies to wipe tears of farmers. Rahul Gandhi is taking up padyatras, but has he ever visited his own constituency to see the plight of farmers?” asked Shah.
He said, “On the other hand, Narendra Modi has full focus on the farmers. To take stock of losses suffered by farmers the PM deputed senior minister Nitin Gadkari and some other cabinet ministers in AligarhMeerut region on April 7. And just after receiving their report in on April 7-8 night, he took effective steps for relief to farmers.” He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered that 35% crop loss be treated as total loss and linked it with natural calamity.
“The earlier compensation rate of Rs 9,000 per hectare has been increased to Rs 13,500 per hectare. By all these steps, it is clear that the PM who himself comes from the poorer section of society is really sympathetic to farmers,” added Shah.
Highlighting the tenure of the Modi government, he said: “In the last 68 years people belonging to backward classes had no bank accounts but within our one year rule we have linked 14 crore people of this section with national banking system. At the time of our forming the government, the price rise was at 7% but within one year the PM has brought it down to 2.33%. We also lowered fuel prices.”
He called upon the Pal, Baghel and Dhankar communities to dislodge the Samajwadi Party from UP. The rally was also addressed by UP BJP president Laxmikant Bajpayee and UP BJP in-charge Om Mathur.
