Complaint for circulating photos

-

After sharp reactions by netizens and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, a social activist Rakesh Chaudhary submitted a police complaint on Sunday accusing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Alka Lamba of circulating the disturbing pictures of the naked body of Mohanlalganj horror victim on social networking sites.

Earlier, ADG Sutapa Sanyal had also criticised the act of sharing the woman’s photographs on the social sites. Inspector of Mohanlalganj police station Kamarudeen and sub-inspector ML Verma were also suspended earlier for their negligence in not covering the body and allowing people to click photographs.

The activist approached the Hazratganj police on Sunday to register an FIR against Lamba. He alleged Lamba had shared the woman’s pictures that had unveiled her identity, which was in blatant violation of the law and demanded punishment for those involved in circulation of the blood-soaked, unclothed photographs of the 35-year-old victim.

Inspector Hazratganj Ashok Verma admitted that he had received the complaint from the activist but said so far no FIR had been registered. He said the complainant had not attached the social site details with the FIR, so police were verifying them adding thatthe FIR would be registered under proper IPC and IT sections if allegations were found true.
