SSP orders probe into fake Aadhaar card case
LUCKNOW: The city police paid no attention to a woman’s complaint regarding a fraudulently prepared Aadhaar card.
The Mahanagar police avoided lodging an FIR for a week till SSP Praveen Kumar intervened on Thursday and ordered a probe in the matter after registering the woman’s complaint.
According to reports, Asha Chauhan, resident of Vigyanpuri Colony came to know about the fraudulently prepared Aadhaar card when she received its copy delivered to her house through post on March 3.
The card was in the name of Shadab Alam but the address mentioned on it was of her other plot in the same colony.
She said she immediately informed the cops at Mahanagar police station about the fraud but they paid no heed.
She said, “The card itself was a clear proof of the fraud but the cops did not lodge the FIR, stating that they would first cross-check the facts. I waited for a week and

finally approached the SSP on Thursday”.
She said she suspected that this Aadhaar card could be misused in anti-national activities if it landed in wrong hands. She said the cops, however, were unable to understand the sensitivity of the matter. She said it could lead to some major breakthrough to the police and security agencies.
The SSP admitted that it was a serious issue as such government identity proofs could be misused by criminal and anti-national elements. He said the Mahanagar police had been directed to register the FIR and probe the matter properly.
