SONEPAT COURT TO HEAR BAIL PLEA OF NODEEP

ROHTAK: A local court in Sonepat will hear the bail plea of Nodeep Kaur, 23, a labour rights activist and member of the Mazdoor Adhikar Sangathan, on Thursday, who has been in Karnal jail for almost a month after being arrested by Kundli police in Sonepat on January 12.

The 23-year-old social activist, who is a native of Punjab’s Muktsar, was arrested on January 12 when she was protesting near a factory in Kundli. Since then, police lodged two FIRs against her - one on the basis of the complaint filed by Kundli SHO Ravi Kumar, and the other was submitted by factor’s accountant. She was facing charges of attempt to murder, extortion and other offences.

Sonepat SP Jashandeep Randhawa said Kaur was arrested after she and her associates attacked police when they had gone outside a factory in Kundli on January 12 after getting informatio­n about the alleged manhandlin­g of management and staff of an industrial unit, and attempts to extort money from them.

Bajwa urges HC to monitor probe

Meanwhile, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa has urged the chief justice of Punjab and Haryana high court to monitor the investigat­ion.

KARNAL: The Kurukshetr­a University has decided to conduct all examinatio­ns of odd semesters of undergradu­ation and postgradua­tion classes in offline mode. As per a circular issued by the university, the exam of UG third semester will be conducted from March 6 and UG first semester will be conducted from March 10.

However, students suffering from Covid or having similar symptoms need not come for the exam and will have to submit a request to the head of the department concerned along with a medical certificat­e issued by the competent authority and their exam will be conducted later on.

Even foreign students who will not be able to appear in the exam can submit a request and their exams will be conducted later.Practical exam will be conducted internally by all department­s and colleges concerned before theory exam.
