Moga govt doctor attacked, car taken away
MOGA: A government doctor, posted at the civil hospital here, suffered serious head injuries after some unidentified miscreants attacked him before taking his Hyundai Creta car at Landeke village here late Wednesday night.
Dr Raminder Sharma was reportedly going for swimming at Lala Hans Raj School in Landeke village when the incident took place.
As per information, when Raminder reached the school, some unidentified persons, who had come in a white car, allegedly attacked him with baseball bats and decamped with his car.
Dr Raminder suffered injuries on his head, shoulders, leg and other body parts during the attack. He has been undergoing treatment at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana.
Getting information about the incident, a police team from the Mehna police station, rushed to the spot.
Balvir Singh, investigation officer (IO), said that they have seen footages of close circuit television (CCTV) cameras, but the video was not clear as the incident took place during night.
“We are investigating the case and accused persons will be arrested soon,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the complaint of Gurmatpal Singh, the victim’s brother-in-law, the case was registered under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 379 (snatching) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Mehna police station.
The staff of the civil hospital, including doctors, paramedical staff, Class 4 and rural medical officers staged a protest and closed the outdoor patient department (OPD) services for two hours to demand arrest of the accused.
A delegation of the Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA), headed by state president Dr Gagandeep Singh, and organising secretary Dr Indervir Singh Gill, met senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raj Jit Singh, and demanded quick action and arrest of the culprits at the earliest.
