KAPURTHALA: Even after four days, the district police have failed to crack the murder of a 25-year-old watchman of Lawrence World Public School in Rasulpur village of Kapurthala. The victim’s body was found lying in the school premises on May 4.

The deceased Kaka Ram, a resident of Ramnagar, Udhampur worked as a helper at the Government Veterinary Hospital in Ibban village during the day and worked as a guard at the school during evening and night. The body was discovered by veterinary inspector Surjit Singh, who visited the school on Monday morning after Ram failed to turn up for work.

“Ram did not attend my calls and did not report to work. So, I along with veterinary officer Dr Amit Saxena visited the hospital to inquire. On reaching the school, we found his body in a locked room,” Surjit had told the police.

In his first information report (FIR), Surjit stated that when they opened the room they found the walls stained with blood and the body covered with a blanket.

After Surjit informed the police, SP (detective) Jagjit Singh Saroya led by the police team rushed to the spot.

Saroya said that they have not found any strong clues in the case so far. Only a blood-stained iron rod which was used to kill Kaka was recovered from the spot.

“We are investigating the case from various angles which can’t be revealed now but we will soon crack the case,” Saroya said.

Meanwhile, the case has been registered under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
