UG ADMISSIONS Process started on Monday, aspirants must fill centralised, college forms
NEWDELHI:In a first, Delhi University’s St Stephen’s college has reserved three supernumerary seats for children of martyrs for admission to the upcoming academic session, admission process for which started on Monday night.
The college, one of the five minority colleges in DU, opened its online registration process at 9pm with 410 seats in 10 courses, including Economics, English, History and Chemistry.
“Three supernumerary seats in all are reserved for children of armed forces personnel who have laid down their lives in action… Allocation of course shall be at the discretion of the principal,” the college’s prospectus said.
Unlike other Delhi University colleges, St Stephen’s does not reserve seats for children of war widows (CW category). Other DU colleges reserve up to 5% supernumerary seats, over and above the total seats, for CW category.
Officials said that every candidate applying for admission to the college is required to first complete the registration process on DU website by filling the DU application form and by paying the registration fees.
But the candidates will also have to fill in the college application form without which the applicant will not be considered for admission to St Stephen’s College.
The fee for DU’s centralised registration form and for St Stephen’s college is Rs100 each. The last date to fill the form will be June 12 till 5pm.
“In the college form, the candidates will have to fill the DU registration number generated after registering in the centralised form. If a candidate does not pay the DU registration fees, he/ she will not be able to fill the college form,” officials said.
The college, which reserves 50% seats for Christians, conducts an aptitude test and an interview for applicants who meet the cut-off. Applicants are given 85% weightage for Class 12 marks, 5% for aptitude test and 10% for interview. However, candidates falling under person with disability category will not have to give the aptitude test and for them the interview will be of 15% weightage.
