NHAI invites objections for land acquisition of Dwarka e-way

-

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has invited objections for acquisition of land for construction of the Northern Peripheral Road, which is also known as Dwarka Expressway.

The objections can be filed by June 5.

A senior NHAI official said, “Within 21 days of notification of land acquisition one has to file objections. NHAI is trying to acquire land as early as possible to complete the construction of Dwarka Expressway.”

The development was welcomed by thousands of home buyers of the NPR in Gurgaon, who have been waiting for the much hyped road project to become operational at earliest.

An 18-km portion of the 28km road falls in Gurgaon and rest in Delhi. The total length of NPR is 28 Km. The lands falls in Bijwasan and Bamnauli villages bordering Gurgaon.

The NHAI will acquire 24 hectares of private land required in the Delhi portion for the completion of the expressway.

The expressway plan in 2007-08 was chalked out by Haryana government to connect Delhi near Dwarka and NH-8 near Kherki Daula in Gurgaon. The construction of the project began in 2011 and it was supposed to be completed in April 2012.

The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) completed 15km while the remaining portion of the project got held up in litigation leading to delays. In October 2016, the expressway project was handed over to NHAi to extend it to Shivmurti in Mahipalpur.

“The development is important for us. We are tracking every inch of development of the Dwarka Expressway. Once the expressway becomes motorable it will bring relief to lakhs of homebuyers who booked flats and apartments in projects along it. Now, NHAI has taken over it so we are hoping for faster construction,” said Gaurav Prakash, founder member of Dwarka Expressway Welfare Association.
