BSES ties up with IGNOU for skill development course
NEW DELHI: Power distribution firm BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has partnered with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to offer a skill development programme in the distribution sector.
With this, BRPL becomes the first discom in north India to get recognition from IGNOU to conduct a skill development programme in this sector, a release from the power distribution firm stated.
The company’s technical centre in Punjabi Bagh has got recognition from IGNOU to conduct ‘Competency Certificate in Power Distribution’ (CCPD) training programme under the School of Engineering and Technology (SOET).
“A large number of the network field staff in state electricity boards is not formally trained even though they have experience. The objective of the training is to ensure that all workers deployed should have continued skill development through formal technical training. It will give participants a chance to further hone their skills and get them acquainted with modern practices,” a BRPL spokesperson said.
According to him, the curriculum of the course is developed and designed by IGNOU with the help of renowned educationists and industry experts.
“The duration of the program, open to front line network staff and freshers, is six months and will be conducted twice a year with batch size of 60 each. Admissions to the course
will take place in July and January every year,” the spokesperson said.
