Not just players, coaches too win matches
BUILDERS Coaches play crucial role in sportspersons’ lives and are instrumental in shaping their wards’ future I myself am a footballer and played nationals, after which my son’s interest in the sport led me to coaching. Football has always been my passion and influencing the young kids, seeing them passion it feels great to coach them. That’s the reason I started my football academy. Our coach in my school is excellent. He has helped me develop interest and improve my game. To improve our skills in football, he organised matches with other teams as well as older players to help us get better and gain confidence in the game. The scope of football in India is growing exponentially and it feels great coaching such young talent. I try to develop basic skills of the player. A lot of academies are also coming up and that increases the influence of football even more, fuelling passion in the young generation for the sport. TOP COACHES
The motivators, influencers, leaders and teachers play important roles in the life of their students. They make every effort to ensure their students never fail. Similarly, when it comes to sports, coaches are the most important person and influencer in a sportsperson’s life.
Even at SARE HOMES HT GIFA, the biggest neighbourhood football tournament in Delhi-NCR, there were some Shahrukh Khan’s of who guided their teams to victory.
Sharing his passion for the game, Hazarat Khan, coach and team manager of Nex Era Academy said: “I am a footballer and played nationals, after which my son’s interest in the sport led me to coaching. Seeing their passion, it feels great to coach them. That’s the reason I started my football academy.”
Fifa started recognising coaches by introducing the World Coach of the Year. This award is based on votes from coaches and captains of international teams, as well as journalists from around the world.
Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho was the first winner of the men’s FIFA World Coach of the Year award in 2010. Mourinho has invaluable coaching experience under legends, Bobby Robson and Louis Van Gaal. He has won eight league titles and four domestic cups with Porto, Chelsea, Inter, and Real Madrid. He also won the 2003 UEFA Cup and the 2004 Champions League with Porto, the 2010 Champions League with Inter, and the 2017 Europa League with Manchester United.
After a mixed second spell at Chelsea, Mourinho became Manchester United manager at the start of the 2016-17 season and took them back into the Champions League.
Govind, a coach from India on Track who conducted training sessions for teams during the GIFA pre-qualifiers felt great about young player’s enthusiasm for football.
“The scope of football in India is growing exponentially and it feels great coaching such young talent. I try to develop basic skills of the player as that is what helps them in the game. A lot of coaching academies are also coming up and that increases the influence of football even more, fuelling the passion in the young generation for the sport,” he said.
