Annual day at Bal Bharati Public School
celebrated its annual day and prize distribution function recently. Tejender Khanna, former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi was the chief guest and the legendary Kuchipudi dancers Dr Raja Radha were the guests of honour. Also present were LR Channa, school chairman and president, Child Education Society (CES), Dr VK Ahuja, vice president, CES and Meenu Goswami, secretary (manager) and principal, BBPS, Pitampura, along with principals of other units of Bal Bharati, members of PTA and alumni association. Addressing the audience, Tejendra Khanna inspired students “to be better human beings”. Principal LV Sehgal, in his address, highlighted the achievements of the school, staff and students during the academic session. The cultural extravaganza for the day comprised of a rich amalgamation of enthralling music, dance and drama items.

The highlights of the event were the standup comedy ‘Humoristar’, Stuti Gayan, street play ‘Naqab’, ‘Thiraktey Pagg’ and situational enactment, a rich demonstration of the hidden capabilities of the students. Each event was judged by a sepa- rate panel of judges.
held a mega tree plantation campaign. The event was organised by the Eco Club department. Students planted saplings in a step that will help breath new life into cities. Students were briefed about the significance of trees, how to plant and care for them. In the mass awareness programme, over a 100 students presented a street play — Humare Vriksh Humari Virasat. The campaign aptly instilled in the students the benefits of a green environment.
hosted a delegation from Sheffield High School, UK. The School accorded a traditional welcome to Valerie Dunsford, principal, Sheffield High School and a group of 46 members including students and teachers. The day began with a cultural show presenting the unity and diversity of India, followed by hands-on experience of making assorted Indian breads and a visit to the recycling room to learn paper crafts. A traditional lunch was followed by a memorable visit to the various historical sites in Delhi such as Hazrat Nizamuddin and Purana Quila. The day ended with mixed feelings of separation and joy of new found friendships.
