NEW DELHI: The Congress Thursday tried to corner the BJP over its stand on Article 370 and communal remarks by BJP and Sangh leaders, with Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia nudging the BJP government to spell out its stand on the constitutional provision that grants special status to Jammu & Kashmir.

“You are going to form the government with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir. I want to know what is your stand on Article 370 now,” Scindia said in the Lok Sabha, targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party which has advocated the repeal of Article 370 for decades.

Participating in the motion of thanks to the President’s Address in Lok Sabha, the Congress leader targeted the government for the string of Ordinances. “Eight Ordinances were brought in by the NDA government and seven were promulgated within 15 days of adjournment of the winter session... The people did not get a bullet train, but they have got a bullet train of Ordinances in the country,” he said.

Accusing the government of bringing in the land Acquisition Ordinance without a discussion, he said “bringing Ordinances in this fashion is a breach of right of this House... Congress will fight tooth and nail anything that is anti-farmer”. Describing the Modi government’s slogan of ‘sabka sath, sabka vikas’ as just a “cliche”, he also attacked the BJP for communal remarks made by some leaders from the BJP as well as the Sangh Parivar.
